Listvinahúsið is the oldest workshop in Iceland, founded in 1927 by the artist Guðmundur Einarsson from Miðdal. At first Listvinahúsið was situated on Skólavörðuholt, close to where Hallgrímschurch is now, but in 1964 it moved to Skólavörðustígur 43 were it’s still today. In 1955 Einar, son of Gudmundur, took over the workshop. He changed it’s style a little bit – the ceramics became modern in shape and color. In 2004 Gudmundur, son of Einar, bought the workshop, after working beside his father for years. To day both Guðmundur and Einar work together making unique cheramic for Listvinahúsið.
